Editing an explainer

Sometimes an explainer is good except for one thing. You don't have to rebuild the whole lesson: write what should change in the box under the player, Ask for a change…, and press Enter.

The box shows on every slide. "This slide" in your instruction means the slide on screen, so move to the slide you mean before you write. The instruction decides what changes: one slide, several, their order, or how many there are. Slides you don't mention are untouched.

While the edit runs, the player is covered and playback pauses. When it lands, playback parks at the start of the slide on screen, because the narration before it may have changed.

What an edit can do

  • Rewrite a slide, with new narration to match.
  • Add or delete slides. Asking for a picture on a slide adds a new slide after it.
  • Reorder slides.
  • Change the intro. If the explainer was named from its intro, rewriting the intro renames it. A name you set yourself stays.
  • Translate. Narration rewritten in another language moves the explainer to that language and picks a voice for it. See Languages.

An edit that would leave the explainer broken is refused with a message, and the explainer stays as it was.

Fixing a broken slide

A slide that failed to render shows Something went wrong generating this slide with a Redo this slide button. Click it and the slide is rewritten so that it renders, keeping what it teaches.

Who can edit

You can edit any explainer you own. That includes explainers you claimed from ChatGPT or a coding agent, and explainers owned by a workspace you belong to. See Privacy, claiming and sharing.

On a free account you can make three edits per explainer. After that, the box offers the Pro upgrade; on Pro, edits are unlimited. The limit follows the plan of the explainer's creator, whoever makes the edit.

Regenerating the narration isn't counted, and exporting has a limit of its own. See Plans and pricing.
